WASHINGTON ? President Obama said Wednesday he will offer recommendations no later than January for preventing another gun tragedy like Newtown. In his opening remarks, he also mentioned 4-year-old Aydan Perea of Kansas City, while talking about other shootings since Friday?s massacre.
?We know that there?s no law or set of laws that can prevent every act of senseless violence in our society,? Obama said.
The President also mentioned the National Rifle Association, which leads the pro-gun lobby in the United States, ?has members who are mothers and fathers? likely impacted by the Connecticut school shooting that killed 20 young children.
He also alluded to the school shootings in calling on Republicans to compromise in fiscal cliff negotiations, saying that ?if there?s one thing we should have after this week, it should be perspective about what?s important.? He added: ?Right now, what the country needs is for us to compromise.?
