Education Foundation to welcome superintendent, director
Reception also to recognize school grant recipients
What: The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools and Oak Contracting will host a red-carpet reception to welcome BCPS Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance and the organization?s new director, Deborah S. Phelps. The event, attended by the region?s business, corporate, and education leaders, also will recognize and celebrate 16 BCPS schools named recipients of the group?s Instructional Initiative Grants. In addition, six high schools will be honored for their participation in a logo contest sponsored by the foundation.
When: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Background:
The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools is an independent, community-based organization that mobilizes public, private, and corporate support for public education in Baltimore County. In partnership with Baltimore County Public Schools, it uses that support and resources to advance student academic achievement and invest in teaching and learning.
Foundation Director Deborah Phelps, who was formerly principal at Windsor Mill Middle School, works with the organization?s board of directors to manage and increase resources to support student academic improvement. Recipients of the 2011-12 Instructional Initiative Grants are:
- Dundalk High School and its feeder schools, including Dundalk Middle School, Holabird Middle School, Berkshire Elementary School, Colgate Elementary School, Dundalk Elementary School, Grange Elementary School, and Norwood Elementary School
- Franklin Elementary School
- Halstead Academy
- Pleasant Plains Elementary School
- Imagine Discovery Public Charter School
- Loch Raven Technical Academy
- Parkville High School
- Pikesville Middle School
- Randallstown Elementary School
